Pregnancy massage

How is pregnancy massage different?

1. Positioning: Pregnancy massage is usually side lying, and when you are positioned on your back special considerations are taken.

2. Areas: There are certain areas that must be avoided in the first trimester, and some that must be avoided throughout. The areas focused on are usually different from a non-pregnant person.

3. Mother’s Health: gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, multiples etc. may alter the course of the massage.

4. Pregnancy Physiology: Increased nausea, increased blood volume, decreased circulation in the legs, the joints are more relaxed, danger of overheating etc.

Your therapist will take all of the points explained above in to consideration.
